Zomato

We signed up our account on Zomato.com the same day we created a blogger account. We wanted to share our gustatory adventures with people and Zomato, with it's clean design, witty remarks, and the big picture of different food items, was our first choice. After a few months of using the site and the app, here's what we've got to say.

    The Good:

1.) The website is easy to use and navigate; it's made with a clean design. As a reviewer, it makes posting reviews very encouraging because of its user-friendliness. As potential diners, its also find it helpful when you're looking for a place to eat since everything you need is laid out on a single page (highlights, type of cuisine, average price, reviews, photos, and even a map).
2.) The smartphone app (at least the Apple version) was made well. It looks great, with nice fonts, spacing and colors. It also has nice features like filters and sorting. You can use these features to sort restaurants by their ratings, to find restaurants in certain places in the Metro, to check if they accept credit cards, to see if they allow pets inside or to find out if they have wifi.
3.) The staff manning Zomato is very responsive. When reporting discrepancies on a restaurant's description, prices, etc. on the site, one can expect a response within 24 hours. That's worlds better than most other online services. It's good to know there are actual human beings behind the scenes at the Zomato offices.

On the iPad [L] You can filter by location, cuisines, budget among other important things like if the place has wifi, or is pet-friendly. ;)  [R] Another nifty feature is the ability to sort by distance, ratings, costs and popularity.

      Improvement Points:

1.) In both the site and the app, the photo of the menu is sometimes incomplete. Perhaps adding a text-searchable menu would be beneficial, so that people can more quickly find the food items they want to try. We'd like to see this feature very much; clicking through the menu pictures to find that one dish can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. :D
2.) In the app, there seems to be no way to edit an entry. Like when we wanted to update "arugula" to "alfalfa" in one of our posts :). Yep, that’s embarrassing.
3.) In the app, not all the information from the site is carried over. An example would be the reviewer's website/twitter account name in case one wanted to check out the reviewer's blog or tweets. It'd be nice to know what the other users are up to in their food adventuring :)

Overall Zomato is a joy to use. Just a few tweaks here and there and it'll be even better. We're looking forward to using Zomato's services in the future, hope you guys can include places outside of Metro Manila. :)
