I haven't actually been to Burgoo before this. Chesca's been there before, but only twice over a period of several years. We decided to try it out together one day, in the Gateway branch.
I was feeling a bit crustacean-y that day, so we tried out their Shrimp Popcorn Caesar. The regular serving was quite large, with a healthy serving of crispy lettuce. The shrimp was quite a treat, tender and savory. Hey, who doesn't love battered, deep fried shrimp? Mmm, makes me hungry just remembering the way the shrimp tasted.
We also sampled their Shrimp and Ribs Platter since, well, it had more shrimp in it :). The ribs were done in a semi-saucy style, nothing really mind-blowingly good about it. Could have used more meat on it too, but then maybe we should have ordered the large size platter. There was also a bit of shrimp on this too. It wasn't as big as the shrimp popcorn on the salad, but it seemed to have more interesting flavors to me. It had a more cajun-y taste to it compared to the shrimp popcorn which was just lightly seasoned.
Eating at Burgoo will set you back quite a lot these days (this meal cost more than 1100Php). However, with all the other American food places around that offer lower prices (and arguably better bang for your buck), it's hard to keep coming back to Burgoo. We recommend going here only if there's a promo ongoing, the price is just a bit too high if you asked us.
