Yakimix (Greenbelt 3)

Hello from the Greenbelt 3 Yakimix. We've been here before quite a few times before. It was a bit disappointing to see that there were fewer cook-able meat varieties compared to Sambokojin or even Tong Yang this time though. But maybe it was because it was nearing closing time. Anyway, here is Chesca's usual starting plate: a couple of rolls, some salmon sashimi and a some nori (seaweed) variants. Nothing too noteworthy in the taste department here.

I was hankering for some vegetables so I went and grabbed a bunch of their cooked vegetable dishes. Broccoli with cheese, spinach (I think), something that tasted like chopsuey, beans with ground beef and some mushrooms. Also, nothing bad about it. Just nothing that would make me come back for more.

And here we have about the entire selection of meats they had then. Well, give or take the ones on skewers. The tenderloin (bottom left corner) was REALLY tender though, we both liked that. Actually all of this was really, really tender. The lemon chicken (top left) had a sort of curry-ish taste and smell to it. Odd. The spicy pork chop (top right) was ok (Chesca's not really into chili-spice). I can't remember what the bottom right meat was though. I think it was just salt and pepper kind of pork with a bit of marinade. Tasty, but nothing to write home about.

And here they are getting cooked. Our first table had a bunch of technical issues with the griller, so we eventually moved to another table (no problems from then on). We noticed that somehow the food never got as burnt as it did in Tong Yang. Maybe it was because of the flame-outs from the stove? Good thing, whatever the reason; we don't particularly prefer eating all those carcinogens :).

Here's Chesca's usual entree accompaniment: lettuce, sweetened potatoes (sweetened with sauce) and some kimchi. I think we had to wait a while for new lettuce leaves to come out since there weren't any the first time we went to the salad bar. All in all, good stuff from that part of the restaurant: the veggies were crisp and fresh and tasty.

I may be putting on my rose-tinted glasses here, but somehow Yakimix didn't impress as much as before this time around. Maybe because it was late. Maybe because we had to ask for help with our sputtering cooker. Still, kind of left the place hankering for more flavor. It wasn't bad, just not as excellent as I remember.
